To install the Pharos Print App on a personal computer, please see the Installing the Pharos Print App article for instructions.
-
Open the document or webpage you would like to print.
-
Select File, then Print from the upper left-hand corner of the window.

If you need to print in color, single-sided, or other advanced functions, follow the instructions in the Printing FAQ & Troubleshooting article.
-
Follow the Authenticating and Release Your Print Job instructions below to retrieve your print job.
We suggest setting the Pharos Secure Printer as your default printer on your personal computer.
All users must authenticate to sign-in at the physical printer in order to print. For instructions on setting up these methods, see our article on Pharos Print Authentication Methods.
There are three ways to authenticate at the printer:
-
Tap your Geneseo ID card on the printer’s “ID Card” sticker.
-
Enter your Pharos passcode by typing it in on the display at the printer.
-
Use mobile release and scan the QR code on the printer with an Android or iOS mobile device.
Once you have authenticated at the printer, you can choose to Print All of your pending documents or you can choose Review Documents to selectively print individual documents or delete duplicate/unneeded documents.
If you have any issues with this process or with a printer please reach out to the CIT HelpDesk. You can email us at helpdesk@geneseo.edu or give us a call at 585-245-5588.
- Download the Pharos Secure Release mobile app from the Apple App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android). You do not need to try to sign-in.
- Make sure you download the app with Secure Release in the name.
- If the Pharos Print app is already installed on your computer, you can right click on the Pharos Print app icon in the lower right (windows) or the upper right (macOS) and choose to “Register a Mobile Device”. If the Pharos Print App is not installed on your computer then refer to this guide to install it.
- This will open the Register a Mobile Device dialog box, displaying a QR code.

- Using the Pharos Secure Release mobile app, tap the menu icon (three horizontal lines, typically located in the top-left corner) to display additional navigation options.

- Select the Print Scout QR Code option.
- The Device Activation screen appears. Use your mobile device to scan the QR code shown in the dialog box on your computer. You will see these messages "Please wait while we register your device..." and "Please wait while we retrieve settings".
- After a successful mobile device registration, you will be redirected to the mobile app and should now have access to the app’s features and functions.

- You can now release your print jobs by using the Mobile release method. Please reference the section below to submit print jobs on your mobile device.
-
After submitting your job, walk up to a secure printer.
-
Open your Pharos Secure Release App on either your iOS or Android device.
-
Select the job you wish to release through the mobile app then choose Print.
-
Scan the QR code that is located on the front of the printer.
-
Your job will be released and will no longer be listed in your Pharos queue.
