Overview
What Does "Authenticate at the Printer" Mean?
Authentication is the process of verifying your identity at a campus printer before your documents are released. This ensures that only you can access and print the jobs you submitted to the Pharos print queue. Your documents remain securely held until you authenticate and choose to release them.
- Pharos Passcode
- A unique 6-character code that is generated when you print with Pharos for the first time.
- Can be reset if forgotten.
- Can be used to authenticate at a printer to release documents if you don't have your id card or it's not working.
- Geneseo ID Card
- This is the official Geneseo ID card that is assigned to you.
- It can be used at any Pharos supported printing by just swiping the card over the ID card reader icon.
- ID cards get setup for printing using a registration process which you will need to know your passcode for.
- Mobile Release
- Can be used by both Android and iOS phones
- Use your phone to scan the QR code on the printer and it will release your print job.
- Requires Pharos Print App in order to setup.
-
Walk up to any Pharos supported printer on campus.
-
Enter your passcode using the touchscreen and select Login.
-
Once authenticated, select and release your print jobs.
Reset your Passcode
You can reset your passcode using 2 different methods:
- Go to: go.geneseo.edu/printing
- Login with your Geneseo email and password
- In the upper right corner select the menu options and then select Passcode

- You will then see the option to Generate, select that. You may be asked to confirm that you want a new passcode, select regenerate.

- A new passcode will now be shown in the box. We recommend taking a photo of the passcode or saving it somewhere else that you will be able to reference.
-
Open the Pharos Print application on your computer by searching for it on your macOS device via Spotlight (magnifying glass icon) or your Windows device via the Start menu.

-
Click the menu icon (three lines) in the upper-right corner of the app and select Reset Passcode.
