Classroom Video Troubleshooting Guide
Use the navigation panel on the right to quickly jump to specific troubleshooting steps for classroom displays, projectors, and operating systems.

Check to make sure the projector is powered up and light can be seen at the projection lens.

Check to see if the lens cover is installed on the projector. Some covers slide over the lens, others clip over the lens. Remove if installed.

Check your physical connections. (HDMI cable, VGA Cable, or Display Port Cable plugged into the correct port or using the correct adapter dongle)

Check for physical stress on USB Type C connectors when a heavier cable is connected to an adapter dongle. Support the cable as necessary. Sometimes gently plugging the USB Type C cable in a second time helps the connection to reinitialize.

Check your selected input on either the SmartBox or Extron controller. (HDMI, VGA, Computer, etc. should match the cable that you have connected)

Check to ensure that display mute is not activated on the Smart Box or the Extron controller. Turn off display mute if it is active.
Check your video settings on your laptop whether you want Display Mirroring or Extended Displays.

- When actively projecting or extending, a bright blue Screen Mirroring icon appears in the menu bar. Click this icon to open the dropdown menu.

- Click the Change button to modify how you are displaying (such as switching between Entire Screen, Extended Display, or a specific window).

- If you do not see the blue Screen Mirroring icon in your menu bar, click the Control Center icon, then click Screen Mirroring.

- Select Display Settings... at the bottom of the dropdown menu to configure more advanced preferences in the System Settings app.

- Select Display Settings to set the Screen Mirroring options in the Settings App.

Mouse Pointer Alignment: Changing the display mode forces macOS to re-initialize and recalculate the screen coordinates between your MacBook and the external projector, which resolves the offset cursor glitch.

Overscan (Edges Cut Off): Projectors set to AUTO overscan often aggressively scale the image up to hide signal noise near the borders. Forcing it to 0% or OFF tells the projector to display the exact incoming video signal pixel-for-pixel.

Cable Troubleshooting (VGA/HDMI): Physical strain on HDMI and VGA cables is the leading cause of signal flickering, color shifts, or no-signal errors. Ensuring the cable is fully seated without pulling or hanging weight on the port relieves stress on the physical pins.

WolfVision Document Camera: Modern document cameras feature built-in gyroscopes or "image flip" sensors. When they fail to register the physical orientation, rotating the arm/head back and forth triggers the internal sensor to recalibrate the image orientation.
