Viewing and Delegating Your Submitted Print Jobs

Tags printing

Need someone else to pick up your printing? You can easily assign a delegate to handle it.

Choose your delegation level:

  • Single Job: Gives one-time permission for a specific print job.
  • Auto-Delegate: Gives ongoing permission to release all of your print jobs.

How to release: Your delegate logs into any campus printer with their Geneseo ID/credentials to view and print your items.

Viewing Your Print Jobs

Once the Pharos setup is complete, the Pharos Secure Release application will be installed on your computer. You can launch it at any time to view pending print jobs, manage delegates, or reset your passcode.

How to open Pharos Secure Release:

  • Windows: Click the Show hidden icons ( ^ ) arrow on the right side of your taskbar, then click the Printer icon. Alternatively, search for it in the Start menu.
  • macOS: Click the Printer icon in the upper-right menu bar. Alternatively, search for it via Spotlight (magnifying glass icon).

This application opens in a new window and allows you to manage your pending print jobs, view authorized delegates, and reset your passcode.

Setting and Managing Delegates

You can grant another Geneseo user permission to release your print jobs in two ways:

  • One-time Delegate: Grants selective, one-time permission for a specific print job without giving ongoing access to your entire queue.
  • Auto-Delegate: Automatically grants ongoing permission to see and release all of your print jobs whenever they authenticate at a campus printer.

Note: Delegates always authenticate using their own Geneseo ID card or credentials at the printer.

How to set a One-time Delegate

  1. Open the Pharos Secure Release application.
  2. Select the specific job you would like to share and click Delegate.
  3. Enter the full Geneseo email address of the user, click Add, and then click Save. (To configure multiple delegates, you must add their email addresses individually at this step.)
  4. Authorized users can now release this specific print job by authenticating with their own credentials at any campus printer.

To remove a one-time delegate: Open the application, select the print job, click on the user you would like to remove from the list, and choose the ⓧ icon next to their name. Remember to save! This is a one-time configuration; new delegates must be added manually to other print jobs as needed.

How to set an Auto Delegate

  1. Open the Pharos Secure Release application.
  2. Click on the hamburger menu icon (three lines) in the upper right corner and choose Auto Delegate.
  3. Turn on the toggle switch to allow auto-delegation.
  4. Enter the full Geneseo email address of the user, click Add, and then click Save. (To configure multiple delegates, you must add their email addresses individually at this step.)
  5. These users are now configured to manage all of your print jobs on an ongoing basis.

To remove an auto-delegate: Follow the steps above, but instead of adding a user, click on the user you want to remove from the active list, click the ⓧ icon next to their name, and click Save to revoke their ongoing access.
