Eduroam Wireless Network (Windows 10 and Windows 11)

These directions will help you set up access to Geneseo's Eduroam 802.1x wireless networks on Windows 10 and Windows 11 computers.

Windows 10

  • Click on the Wireless icon in the lower right corner of the screen.  image of wifi connected on laptop
  • You should now be presented with a list of available wireless networks. Select the eduroam network.  image if wireless networks available

  • Now click on the Connect button.image of wireless connect screen button

  • You may also want to select Connect automatically to remember this network for the future.

  • Click or tap Connect to access the network.

    • When prompted, enter your Geneseo email address and Password, such as abc0@geneseo.edu.

  • Select Connect, and your computer will connect to the Geneseo network.

Windows 11

  • Click on the Wireless icon in the lower right corner of the screen. image of wireless icon on toolbar

  • Click on the Arrow next to the Wireless icon to see the list of wireless networks.   network and internet settings box from bottom tray

  • You should now be presented with a list of available wireless networks. Select the eduroam network.

  • Now click on the Connect button.

    • You may also want to select Connect automatically to remember this network for the future.                image of wifi settings and connect button 

  • Click or tap Connect to access the network.

  • When prompted, enter your Geneseo email address and Password, such as abc0@geneseo.edu.

  • Select Connect, and your computer will connect to the Geneseo network.

Troubleshooting Connection Problems

  1. Press "Windows key + r" to open a run dialog box windows and letter R key icons

  3. Paste in the following command:                                                                                                                                                                              image of the command prompt "netsh wlan delete profile name="eduroam" to be copied in the command field

  1. Now the profile has been deleted, and you can start over. 

Update Driver

If you still cannot connect to the eduroam network, please follow these steps to ensure your wireless driver is up-to-date.

  1. Upgrade your version of Windows to the most recent release. This can be done within Windows Update.

    1. Windows 10 should be version 22H2 or later

    2. Window 11 should be version 23H2 or later

  2. Download and install the newest wireless network card drivers from the network manufacturer’s website, not from within Windows Update. 

    1. Determine the make and model of the network card by finding it in the Network Adapters folder inside the Device Manager, for example, Intel AX210.

    2. Search Google for that exact make and model to download an updated driver. For example, Intel AX210 Windows 10 driver

    3. Download and install the new driver.

    4. Reboot.
