Voicemail How to Change Greetings

There are up to four personal greetings can be enabled on your voicemail.

Before You Start

 The types of available greetings are:

  • Standard Greeting: Plays 24/7 unless an Alternate, Busy, and/or Internal greeting is enabled

  • Alternate Greeting: Enable to play during a specific temporary time period (e.g. vacation)

  • Busy Greeting: Enable to play when you are on your phone

  • Internal Greeting: When enabled, only on campus callers will hear this greeting when your phone is not answered

Log In to Voicemail

From Your Office Phone

  1. Dial 5999
  2. Enter your PIN, then press #

If You Share a Phone Line

  1. Dial 5999
  2. Enter your ID (mailbox number), then press #
  3. Enter your PIN, then press #

From Another Phone on Campus

  1. Dial 5999, then press #
  2. At the first prompt, press #
  3. At the second prompt, press # again
  4. Enter your ID (mailbox number), then press #
  5. Enter your PIN, then press #

From Off Campus

  1. Dial 585-245-5999
  2. At the prompt, press #
  3. Enter your ID (mailbox number), then press #
  4. Enter your PIN, then press #

Access Greeting Settings

  1. Press 4 for Setup Options
  2. Press 1 to Change Greetings

Manage Your Greetings

Standard Greeting

  1. The system will play your current greeting
  2. Press 1 to re-record
  3. Follow prompts to save

Alternate Greeting

  1. Press 2
  2. To set an end date:
    • Press 1
    • Enter the number of days
  3. Enter the end time in hh:mm format (e.g., 08:00), then press #
  4. Listen to your greeting
  5. Press 1 to re-record or follow prompts to save

Note: The Standard Greeting will resume after the selected end date and time.

Busy or Internal Greetings

  1. Press 3
  2. Follow prompts to record and save

Note: Ignore Holiday and Closed options.

Exit the System

  • Hang up to exit
