Steps

•  Connect to the voicemail system by phone:

  • From a private office phone → Dial 5999

    • Enter the initial PIN of 123456  followed by the pound (#)  key

  • If you share your phone line → Dial 5999

    • Enter your 6 digit ID (mailbox number) followed by the pound (#) key

    • Enter your initial PIN of 123456 (mailbox security code) followed by the pound (#) key

  • From off-campus → Dial 585-245-5999

    • At the sound of the prompter, press the pound (#) key.

    • Enter your 4 digit (your extension) or 6 digit (your mailbox number if you share a phone) ID followed by the pound (#) key.

    • Enter the  initial PIN of 123456

  • From another phone on campus → Dial 5999

    • At the sound of the prompter, press the pound (#) key

    • At the sound of the 2nd prompter, press the pound (#) key again.

    • Enter your 4 digit (your extension) or 6 digit (your mailbox number if you share a phone) ID, followed by the pound (#) key.

    • Enter the initial PIN of 123456

• Personalize your mailbox

  • Record your first and last name (or department name for a departmental mailbox), followed by the pound (#) key.

  • The system will play back your name and ask if you want to accept it or re-record it.

  • Record a new personal greeting that callers will hear, followed by the pound (#) key.

  • The system will play back your greeting and ask if you want to accept it or re-record it.

  • Enter a new PIN (It must be a minimum of 6 digits in length)

  • Confirm your PIN by entering your PIN again.

• Hang up

Please note: For voice mail activated after March 11 2026, messages will automatically go to your email. You will still need to go through the activation process and set up of your greeting.
