Course Registration Guide (myGeneseo)

The myGeneseo Registration Portal lets students check their academic standing, plan weekly schedules, and instantly submit their full course load when registration opens.

The registration portal with a variety of subpages to chose from, each with their own captions explaining their uses. Subpages have titles such as, Prepare for Registration, Plan Ahead, View Registration Information, Compliance Results, Register for Classes, Browse Classes, Browse Course Catalog, and SNAP Enrollment Verification Form.

Accessing the Registration Portal

For all of the registration actions outlined below, begin by completing these baseline steps:

  1. Log in to my.geneseo.edu.
  2. Locate the Sites service dashboard module and click the Registration link. Image of the Registration link, next to a square green icon

Prior to Registration (Holds & Times)

  1. From the main registration landing page, click Prepare for RegistrationPrepare for Registration, with clipboard icon.
  2. Select your target academic term from the dropdown menu.
  3. Verify that your status indicates zero active holds blocking your account, and confirm your exact assigned registration timeRegistration status page. States student is in Good Standing and has no holds, and can register at certain times and dates. It also lists class standing and amount of credit hours (divided between institution hours and transfer hours).

Creating a Registration Plan

Building a plan allows you to construct your perfect schedule in advance. Once your registration window opens, you can submit the plan instantly rather than looking up individual courses manually.

  1. From the main registration landing page, click Plan AheadPlan Ahead, with an icon showing three horizontal blue lines and a green arrow, pointing up and left diagonally.
  2. Select the target academic term and follow the on-screen instructions.
  3. Search for your desired courses using the catalog lookup tool.
⚠️ Catalog Warning: The Plan Ahead search display pulls from the entire historical Geneseo Catalog. It will list courses even if they are not being offered during the current term.
  1. Always click the View Sections button for a course to see actual scheduled time blocks, then click Add to put that specific section into your plan.
  2. Save your plan before exiting.

Registering Using Your Saved Plan

When your registration ticket becomes active, execute your saved schedule using these steps:

  1. From the main registration landing page, click Register for ClassesRegister for Classes, with calendar icon.
  2. Navigate to the Plans tab located near the top of the interface workspace. Search interface for classes. A field for typing the class subject is visible.
  3. Locate your pre-built plan and click the Add All button next to it. (Your chosen courses will populate into the summary pane at the bottom right).

  4. Click the Submit button in the lower right-hand corner of the page to finalize your enrollment. submit button

Troubleshooting Errors

  • "CRN: ##### Please contact the help desk": This is almost always caused by a brief session timeout in the registration system. Log completely out of the registration portal, clear your browser session or refresh, and log back in to resolve the issue.
