Emailing Advisees

The section below provides instructions for faculty members to email their advisees.

Option 1: Student Advising Profile

  1. Login to myGeneseo and search for or find the “Student Advising Profile” page in the “Sites” section.

  2. Click on the "Student Advising Profile" page.

  4. If desired, click the "Filter" button in the upper right corner of the list of advisees.  image of the filter drop down

    1. Update the filter fields as desired. 

      1. For Example:  "Filter Records" interface showing a dropdown menu selected as "Advisor Holds" and a second dropdown menu selected as "Is true".

  5. Click the "Email All" button near the top right of the list of students. An envelope icon next to the text "Email All"

  6. A pop-up window should appear, allowing you to send an email through your email client (Thunderbird, Gmail (Chrome), etc).


Option 2: Faculty Advisee Export

This option allows you to copy and paste email addresses.

  1. Login to myGeneseo and search up or find the “Faculty Advisee Export” page in the “Sites” section.

  2. Click on the "Faculty Advisee Export" option.

  1. Login using your Geneseo username and password.

  2. If desired, filter the list to only include students with a certain type of hold. 

    1. For example: A checked setting option that reads Only list students with a followed by a dropdown menu set to Advisement Hold (see advisor) and ending with the word hold.

  3. Click the "Get Email" button. image of the get emails button

  4. Copy the email addresses and paste them into the "BCC" (Blind Carbon Copy) field in your email client.

  5. Click on the "Done" button.  image of the done button

  6. You may also extract the list of advisees to Excel by clicking the gear icon image of the gear icon  in the lower right corner of the student list on the main page.  Select "Export All to CSV".  The file should then download to your computer.
