When learners ask questions about other skills or topics, the feature may pull general insights from OpenAI to respond to the learner before recommending content published by LinkedIn Learning.
What learner data does the feature reference to personalize conversations?
The feature personalizes interactions using your LinkedIn profile (job title, company) and learning data (goals, followed skills, history). You can edit this information at any time.
How many messages can learners exchange with the feature?
The full-screen experience may ask clarifying questions and suggest multiple recommendations. Due to limited capacity, you may see an error message during high demand; if so, please try again later.
How do I start a new conversation with AI-powered coaching?
To start a new conversation:
- Full-screen experience: Refresh or reload your browser page.
- Search bar experience: Type a new prompt directly into the search bar at the top of the page.
How is conversation data stored and secured? Who has access to this data?
LinkedIn stores your conversation history for one year under the same security standards as your course history. Your data remains private and is not shared with employers or other members. To remove or export your data, you can close your LinkedIn account or use the export tool.
Here's a tip
LinkedIn does not store conversation data for learners who:
- A) Have not connected their LinkedIn Learning account to their personal LinkedIn profile.
- B) Are located in the EU, EEA (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway), or Switzerland.
AI Processing and Privacy
Your interactions are powered by Microsoft’s Azure OpenAI API. Here is how your data is handled:
- Processing: LinkedIn translates your questions and profile info into prompts for the AI. While processed via Microsoft’s service, your data is not accessed by Microsoft or OpenAI except for specific security or legal requirements.
- Internal Access: Access is strictly limited to the LinkedIn Learning team. They review conversations only to assess and improve the feature's quality.
- Security: Your inputs are protected by the same rigorous security controls as all other LinkedIn learner data.
How can learners provide feedback if they are not satisfied with how the feature responds to their prompts?
Learners can click the Like or Dislike icons next to the response and provide feedback through surveys on the product.
How can organization admins prevent their learners from using this feature?
Admins can turn off access for their organization in admin settings. Click on Customize, Learner Features, and turn off AI-powered coaching.
