This guide will show you how to easily upload files, keep them organized, and add them to your pages in WordPress.
Manage all your uploaded content—including images, audio, video, and other files - by clicking the Media link in the WordPress dashboard sidebar.

Resize the image before uploading to WordPress. Try to keep under 200 kb per image.
Go to Media > Add Media File from the dashboard’s left-hand sidebar.
You can either drag files directly into the dashed box or click Select Files to browse your computer to upload.
Look at the bottom of the upload box. It will say "Maximum upload file size: [X] MB." If your file is bigger than this, it will fail.
Click the edit link next to the image you uploaded.
Edit the following image fields:
Alt Text: Describes the image for screen readers and Google.
Title: Change the default IMG_#### name to a meaningful name.
Image Block: For standard, single images where you need control over size, alignment, alt text, linking, cropping, or filters.
Slideshow Block: To create a carousel or slideshow that lets users cycle through multiple images in a compact space.
Media & Text Block: When you want to pair an image (or video) with a block of text, placing them side-by-side with options for different layouts.
For simple, standalone images; offers resizing, linking, cropping, and filters.
Add the image to your Media Library.
To add an image, you can use either the visual menu or a quick keyboard shortcut:
The [+] Icon: Click the blue button in the top-left or the black button between paragraphs, then search for "Image."
The Slash Shortcut: On a new line, type /image and hit Enter to instantly insert the block.
Once the block appears, choose media library button.
Click the image to select it and click the blue select button on the bottom right.
You can also edit the image appearance, change the Alt Text and Title of the image
Ensure the image has a meaningful Alt Text and Title.
Once your image is visible, use the Block Toolbar (directly above the image) and the Settings Sidebar (on the right) to fine-tune it.
There are several ways you can add an image to an existing block.
Media Library
Places image in its own line.
Go the page and open to edit.
Select the block you wish to add the image to.
Click the blue + icon (top-left).

Select the Media tab.
Then Images.
Click on the image to insert into the block.
Drag & Drop
You can select an image from your computer
Then drag it into the desired block.
Inline Image within a Paragraph Block
Places image with the text.
Click inside an existing Paragraph block where you want a small image or icon to appear (e.g., next to text).
In the block's toolbar that appears, click the down arrow or the options icon (⋮) and look for the "Inline Image" option.
Select an image from your Media Library or upload a new one, and adjust its size as needed from the block settings sidebar.
When you want to display multiple images in sequential order to save space.
Open the page or post where you want the slider to appear.
Click the (+) Block Inserter icon at the top left or within the page body.
Type "Slider" in the search bar.
Click on the block icon for Image Slider - Publish Press to drop it onto your page.
Click the add images button to open your Media Library.
Click the image, make sure there is an alternate text and meaningful title given to the image, click select.
Continue to click the plus button under the images and repeat step six until all the desired images are added.
Next you will customize the slider settings by clicking on the block side menu properties.

Type "media" in the search bar.
Click on the block icon for Media & Text to drop it onto your page.
Click the "Media Library" button to open your existing media, select your image, and click "Select" or "Insert".
Content: Click and type to add your text content into this area. This section is not limited to text only — you can also click the + block inserter to choose any other block you’d prefer to use in this section.
