The Make Me Admin application allows you to work securely as a standard user for your daily tasks while giving you temporary administrator access only when you need to install software or modify system settings.
❌
Eligibility & Limitations
Who can use it: This application is strictly available for Faculty and Staff accounts.
Students: Students using a managed campus computer must contact their supervisor or call the CIT HelpDesk to request administrator credentials.
Dell Support Assist: Make Me Admin privilege elevation does not work with Dell SupportAssist. For driver updates, please contact the HelpDesk to schedule an appointment with a CIT technician.
How to Elevate Your Permissions
Open Make Me Admin
Go to your Start Menu, search for Make Me Admin, and click the icon to launch the application. (If it is not listed, type make me in the search field and click on the icon when it appears in the window then pin to your taskbar for quick access later).

Request Rights
In the Make Me Admin application window, click the Grant Me Administrator Rights button.

Authenticate
When prompted, enter your full Geneseo email address and password (the same credentials you used to log into the computer) and click OK.

Confirm Notification
Look for a desktop notification confirming that your privilege elevation request was successful. You now have administrator access.

After 30 minutes or upon logout, your admin rights will be revoked. If admin rights are needed again, please follow the process to request rights again.

⚠️
Important Rules to Remember:
Time Limit: Your administrator rights will automatically expire after a half-hour window or when you log out. If you need more time, simply repeat the steps above to request rights again.
System Prompts: When performing actions that require admin rights (like running an installer), Windows will still prompt you for a username and password. Enter your full Geneseo email address and password to proceed.
