Use long, complex, unique, and secret passwords

A secure password is key to keeping your accounts, data, and info safe. If the internet is a door, your password is the key. You wouldn't leave your door unlocked, so don't leave your accounts or data unlocked.

  1. Long, complex passwords are harder to hack. Create passwords that are at least 16 characters long and use a combo of lowercase and uppercase letters, numbers, and special characters (@,&,?,!, etc.).

  2. Never reuse old passwords or use the same password for more than one account. The least secure password is one that was already hacked!

  3. Never share a password with someone or leave it written where people can see it.

  4. If you think someone knows your password, reset it immediately.

  5. If you receive an error, try using a less common word in your password and verify it meets all requirements.

  6. Your account is now active and can be used to access Geneseo services. Be sure that you set up methods for Self Service Password Reset.

Multi-Factor Authentication

  1. Employees and Students are also required to set up Multi-factor Authentication methods.

Students - missing your new account email?

Try searching your email inbox for emails from "helpdesk@geneseo.edu" or an email with the subject "Geneseo Network Account".

You should check the email account that was used to apply to the college; this may be your high school or school district email account or a free personal email account such as Outlook or Gmail.
